Citizenship & Naturalization

Becoming a U.S. Citizen

Get Help from an Experienced Citizenship Lawyer

Many people born outside of the United States dream of becoming U.S. citizens. If you were not born here, the process for achieving citizenship in this country is called naturalization. In order to be eligible for naturalization, you must meet a number of requirements that have been established by the U.S. Congress. If you do, you can apply for citizenship with U.S. Citizen & Immigration Services (USCIS). Filling out your application improperly or failing to provide the necessary documents will cause a rejection or a delay. If your application is approved, you will need to have an interview and pass a test about English and U.S. history, among other requirements.

I have more than 20 years of experience as a citizenship lawyer. I have guided many people through the naturalization process, and I am familiar with everything you need to know and do in order to become a U.S. citizen. I can help you apply and also prepare you for the interview and test.

Are You Eligible?

The first requirement you must meet is that you have to hold a Permanent Resident Card (a Green Card) for at least five years. You must also:

  • Be at least 18 years of age at the time you file the application.
  • Meet certain length of residency requirements.
  • Be able to read, write and speak basic English.
  • Have good moral character.
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government.
  • Demonstrate a loyalty to the principles of the U.S. Constitution.
  • Be willing to take the Oath of Allegiance.
